La Bastide has many secrets to reveal to those who are adventurers of humanity.
Help a Bastide!
On July 9, 1992, the La Ciotat Municipal Council, "considering that Mrs. Yvane Rozenfeld is the heir to a large estate registered in the land registry at a place called Le Garoutier…, with an area of 14,488 m², on which stands a manor house of approximately 300 m², a house representative of the architectural heritage of our town, considering that the town owns the adjacent plots with an area of 5,600 m² (purchased in 1982 from France Lemaire-Marin, daughter of Blanche Fabre and Octave Marin for 252,000 francs), the two properties being classified as Zone 1 NAc in the Local Urban Development Plan (POS), considering that the acquisition of the property would allow the town to have land control of a large strategic sector along Avenue Guillaume Dulac and to preserve part of our architectural heritage through the future development of the house… decides to acquire the property at the total price of 2,100,000 francs." It consists of a flat plot of land used for agriculture, a bastide - a manor house built on a ground floor and two stories and an adjoining farmer's house to the east but offset and an incorporated dovecote as well as several outbuildings in the form of a stable, shed, hayloft, former pigsty, basins, wells, wash houses.
On July 30, 2004, the municipality of La Ciotat made available to the association "La Ciotat, il était une fois" the Bastide – a municipal property called "Les Micocouliers", on part of the land for the creation of costume workshops in order to organize historical festivals and shows,
to highlight historical events, traditions, or periods. The occupant undertakes, within the framework of grant applications, to raise the necessary funds to restore the building according to best practices. This agreement takes effect on August 1, 2004, and ends on July 31, 2016.
On December 23, 2013, the Municipal Council of La Ciotat, "considering that the Bastide Marin is the subject of a registration in its entirety by prefectural decree of March 4, 2013 as a historical monument, considering that, within the framework of the creation of a Centre for the Interpretation of Mediterranean Matrimony, the association "La Ciotat, il était une fois" coordinates the restoration project of the Bastide Marin, approves the provision free of charge for a period of twelve years.

A Bastide, a place
Yesterday
A plain where olive trees, vines and wheat nourished Ceyreste and La Ciotat
A land of memory and legend, a place where Men, the "Marin, Abeille, Portalis, Fabre" ... chose to live.

Today and tomorrow
Bounded by the municipality of Ceyreste and Avenue Pierre Rovarch, artificially divided in two by Avenue Guillaume Dulac, this territory
and its inhabitants must face new urban, human and civic challenges.
The urban renewal program (ANRU) and the numerous real estate programs completed or underway will profoundly change the landscape, the living environment, and the daily lives of its inhabitants.
The creation of the "Mediterranean Heritage" Interpretation Centre and the restoration of the Bastide Marin are developing solidarity around the memory of La Ciotat, a land and sea of history.
They promote equal access to culture through the discovery of human, natural and built heritage while encouraging intergenerational participation, mobilizing residents around know-how, traditional trades and crafts.
This important site of "matrimony" also welcomes visitors seeking meaning and authenticity. The tourist office promotes it.
